The writing is good. The world is fun and the heroine is annoyingly dumb, stupidly independent and never passed over an opportunity to put herself at risk. SpoilersBathsheba works for a supernatural dating site. Her sister is a werewolf in hiding. Somehow or another they believe they've fooled everyone into thinking the sister is human because she sometimes wears perfume. Spoiler Alert: they've fooled no onven though Bathsheba isn't supposed to date the clientele she goes on a date with a were-cougar who is near the head of the Alliance. She falls in love. The blond virgin falls in love and has sex with Beau-but she never learns to trust. There's a evil creature who is stalking tall blond women but she throws herself into risky situation after risky situation without telling Beau what the hades is going on. The risky situations include "I've got your sister and I'll kill her unless you give yourself up. Come alone." And our dingbat does.
I've never rooted for a heroine to bite the big one before but this one is too stupid to live

Beauty Dates the Beast Jessica Sims Books Reviews
Christmas request by 17 year old granddaughter. One of her favorite writer.
The sisters are a boring relationship. Sara is a bitten wolf and in hiding. Her sister Bathsheba is so over the top, Sara is next to useless. The Alliance seems to be willing to accept all kinds of shifters but humans are beneath them. Lots of contradictions and jumpy plot. Could have been great.
I really enjoyed this book and all the characters in it. It was a great read! It had a few more editing
Problems in it than most of the authors other books but other than having to go back in the story a little ways to figure it out, no problem. Quite a few instances of extra words and such also.
I would recommend this book to anyone wanting a few hours of love, excitement, and supernatural characters. Which is my particular cup of tea
Wonderful book. It's written in first person point of view, which many people tend to find off-putting, but the book is written very well, so don't let it deter you. I love Beau as the Alpha-cougar. I do agree with the other reviewer, though, when Bath is at the hospital at the end, and she has all these injuries, but since she wasn't raped, she's okay. I wanted another line there, like Beau saying something to the effect of "You think *that's* what I care about?" That would have been perfect. But I'll overlook it for the rest of the book, which I enjoyed.
I actually read the second book first (Desperately Seeking Shapeshifter, 2012) and enjoyed it SO much I starting searching for the first book, Beauty Dates the Beast. The second book is my favorite of the two; however, I think that may be because reading them out of order gave me a few "spoilers" for the first book. No question they are both well worth reading, but I would suggest you take them in order for the best enjoyment.
Part of the plot involves a social service reminiscent of Kimberly Raye's delightful series of "Dead End Dating Novels". I am looking forward to the third installment in Ms. Sims' series!
Jessica Sims has a wonderful style of writing that has humour and more than a touch of humanity for her shape shifter hero, and her all too human, heroine. This is a fun romance with a good plot and severely likeable people. Seriously give me a beast like Beau anytime - he is strong, sexy and has a soft centre though thankfully not when it counts or should I say where? The plot is simple but what makes it good is the fact that it is well orchestrated with a focus on the characters and their personalities, and on the differences between human and not so human in a more real way than normal. Both parties show a connection to normal feelings and even errors like not understanding the mechanics of being a romantic. Our heroine is hurtable, breakable but still so brave to do what she thinks is right no matter who she needs to go up against. This book is delightful and hopefully there will be many more.
I read a few of the novellas and short stories by Jessica Sims before trying this one out. All of them were compelling and sexy - particularly Bear Naked and Single Wolf Female. Both of those had clear (if silly) premises, likable, relatable, not entirely ridiculous heroines, seriously hunky heroes, and super hot sex scenes. This book, on the other hand, had a vapid, boring "heroine" who constantly made stupid decisions and ridiculous mistakes, a one-dimensional hero who had no particular reason for pursuing her in the first place, and a plot full of holes and glaringly obvious "twists." There was no inciting incident or plot set up to speak of, no one's motivations made any sense, there was no reason for the couple to get together, be together, or stay together, and nothing interesting happened while they were.
I think this was the author's first book in the series, so maybe I should cut her some slack, but if I had started with this one, I never would have read any of the others. I was looking forward to reading book two, having briefly met the characters in Bear Naked, but now I'm not so sure. In any case, I would recommend the two novellas, and perhaps the series gets better, and more focused, with each attempt. But skip this one, it's not worth your time.
